FILLING APPLICATIONS

What are face fillers?

Face filler is the general name given to fillings applied to any anatomical region of the face. The most common filling material we use in face filling is hyaluronic acid fillings. The most preferred filler brands in our clinic are Restylane, Juvederm and Stylage. Apart from hyaluronic acid, I also use Radiesse branded filler containing Ca hydroxylapatite. We use hyaluronic acid fillers for fine lines, volume and lifting purposes. The face is basically divided into 3 regions as upper, middle and lower.

In which areas can face fillers be applied?

The most frequently applied areas are cheek, mid cheek, nasolabial, forehead and temple fillings. Apart from these fillings, you can browse our other articles on our site, which are prepared in detail on more specific areas such as nose, lips, under eye, jawline and hand.

What is cheekbone (cheek) filling?

Cheekbone (Cheek) filler is the filling made to the cheek area. When you look at the faces of beautiful celebrities, models and many people you find beautiful-handsome, you generally like it. In fact, the cheekbone area, which is the main line of the middle face of many people you find beautiful or handsome, is prominent. The prominence of the cheekbone region symbolizes youth and beauty. The smoothness and fullness of this area gives the face a healthy, youthful and luminous appearance. What we mean by the cheekbone area is the highest part of the cheek that connects the middle cheek and the front of the ear. While this area is much fuller in women, excessive fullness in men can lead to a feminine appearance. We can elevate the cheek area by injecting a needle on the bone from 3 different injection points, generally along the cheek line. In suitable patients, the cheekbone region can be clarified with a cannula. In this region, many techniques such as fanning with filling, bolus injection on the bone, sandwich technique can be used.

The cheekbone area and the area just below the cheekbone are the main part that carries our face upwards. Over time, the ligaments on our face weaken, bone resorption develops, adipose tissue decreases and the supporting tissue becomes loose. As a result, sagging on the cheeks becomes evident. The most important point to correct this sagging on the cheeks is cheek filling.

In general, the principle of fillings is to take shape first and then to the preservation program. More ml of filler is needed to shape, while less filler is needed to maintain the desired volume on the face. Weight loss, extreme sports and lifestyle are important in protecting the fillings.

Combining the cheek filling with other necessary fillings provides a better aesthetic result. Another important process in the preserving of fillings is mesotherapies. In particular, mesotherapies containing hyaluronic acid support the structure of the skin. Some mesotherapy products, such as Jalupro youth serum, contain amino acids in addition to non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Other mesotherapy products that we apply frequently are Plinest Salmon DNA and Newest, which is a combination of Salmon DNA and hyaluronic acid. Thanks to these mesotherapies, the effect of fillings can be preserved. The product we call Pb serum, which is a mesotherapy product, contains lyase, a form of hyaluronidase. It is necessary to bear in mind that this product will melt the fillings.

It should also be kept in mind that devices such as radiofrequency and focused ultrasound that heat the skin melt the fillings.

More superficial applications such as dermapen and skin care are effective on the epidermis and do not dissolve the fillers.

What is middle cheek filler?

The middle cheek filler is the part that is under the detention and supports the detention on the cheek when viewed from the front. The middle cheek may be structurally weak, or it may be sagging due to excessive weight loss and age. Filling is the right choice for those who complain of flattening and sagging in the middle cheek. Supporting the middle cheek also lifts the face and provides lifting. The nasolabial region is tidied up and under eye is supported.

The middle cheek should be evaluated before the under-eye light filling is applied for the camouflage of the bag and the removal of the dark-bruise caused by the under-eye concavity in people who have bagging and cupping problems under the under-eye. If there is no need for filling in the middle cheek, detention light filling can be done directly. If the under-eye light filling is applied without correcting this area in people with a sunken and flat middle cheek, the under-eye bagging becomes evident and a swollen appearance may occur.

What is a nasolabial filler?

The nasolabial region is the area that symmetrically connects the corner of the nose and the corner of the mouth on both sides. This area deepens due to sagging on the face and gives the face an old and tired expression. In order to have a healthier, younger and smoother skin, fillers can be applied to the deepening lines in the nasolabial region. I almost always do this filler in conjunction with the filler application to the lifting points just below the cheek filler. Because the problem in this region is not the deepening of the nasolabial region alone. The problem in this area is that due to the sagging of the cheek, the cheek piles forward and downwards and deepens the nasolabial region. The most correct approach is to fill the lifting points first and then pull the face back and then fill the nasolabial area.

What is forehead filler?

The forehead area tends to be structurally flatter in men and more convex in women. In some people, this area may become more and more flat or even sunken. If there is not enough support in the bone and connective tissue under the muscle activity in the forehead, the lines become deeper and deeper. Forehead filling is done for two purposes. First, if the forehead is convex in shape, i.e. hollow, it can be applied if a more convex forehead is desired. Forehead filling can be applied with a needle as well as with a cannula. Needle application should be done carefully because of the large vascular structure. Although the vascular damage is less in the application with the cannula, it can sometimes be difficult to advance the cannula in this region due to its shape. The correct application method should be chosen according to the patient. Forehead filler is also used to fill in the deep lines, which are more prominent especially in men, and to fill the parts of the lines between the eyebrows that extend to the forehead. If the lines have become static, that is, visible while not mimicking, filling application is required in these areas.

What we call the pillow line is the name given to the vertically parallel lines, especially on the forehead. They are static lines that develop with the lying position over time, and they benefit from filling, not botox application.

What is a temple filler?

The temple area is the area that supports the upper face, between the eyebrows and the outer part of the eyes and the scalp. The temple area loses volume genetically, age-related or as a result of weight loss. With the application of filling to the temple area, the loss of volume in this area is reduced and a more dynamic and youthful appearance is formed on the face. Since the temple area is an area that supports the eyebrows, the outer part of the eyebrows rises slightly. When applied in addition to botulinum toxin application in patients with low eyebrows, it makes the outer part of the eyebrows more slanted and raised, especially in young patients. Since the temple area is rich in vascular structures, it requires attention and mastery even if it is done with a cannula.
